The tour’s ‘awww, cute’ moment(s) April 9, 2008

Springsteen’s soft side has been on display during “Dancing in the Dark.” During the Tuesday show in Anaheim, for example, instead of summoning a 2008 version of Courtney Cox to dance with him onstage, he plucked a little girl out of the crowd. She bopped alongside him for a moment, then Springsteen hoisted her off the ground, cradled her in his arms, and handed her back to the crowd, where she began high-fiving everyone around her. But that was just one part of her 15 minutes of fame. Earlier in the concert, Springsteen handed her his guitar pick after a song and, before cranking up the next tune, said, “This one’s for you, sweetie.”
He did something similar in Cincinnati in March. See this video at the 1-minute mark: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nndQQ34Js9A&feature=related
Well, it all is pretty much scripted these days, isn’t it.
But we can pretend it isn’t and enjoy the fun. I had a great time in the pit. Where were you?
Club level. It looked like the pit had a lot of action going on.
I am the father of the little girl Bruce brought on stage and I must tell you, this certainly wasn’t scripted- at least not from our end! We had no idea anything like this was going to happen and it was like a dream. My daughter Ashley still can not stop talking about it. It was amazing. If anyone has a video of it, I would love it if you could send it my way!
Thanks,
Kevin
Kevin, thanks for your note. It was fun to watch, even if Bruce has done the same thing before (according to my friend, he also danced with a little girl during The River tour in 1981 in L.A.).
